You are managing a campaign to get the right person into the right job and this has be timely and cost effective. Marketing tools like advertising, networking and referrals are used. Like sales, you could “win” the candidate or “lose” that person to the competition. That is why keeping the applicants engaged during the process and working through the process as quickly as possible is very important. Many times, the recruiter is the first “face” of the company, the ambassador who is inviting potential staff to learn about the company. Treating those applicants who are not selected with respect shows that the company is a quality place to work or patronize as a customer.
